Restaurant Equipment Financing in Texas

Kitchen equipment fails at the worst time and costs a lot to replace. Financing lets a restaurant spread that cost across the period it earns from the equipment instead of absorbing it in one hit.

What a kitchen is made of

A commercial kitchen is a collection of expensive machines that run most of the day. Ranges, ovens, fryers, hood and exhaust systems, walk-in coolers and freezers, dishwashers, ice machines, prep tables and a POS system all wear out, and none of them is cheap. A single piece of refrigeration can put a dent in a month's cash, and a full kitchen build-out is a major capital project.

Repair, replace or upgrade

  1. Repair when the machine is fundamentally sound and the problem is a part.
  2. Replace when repairs are recurring, efficiency has dropped or a failure would close the kitchen.
  3. Upgrade when new equipment saves labor, widens the menu or lets you serve more covers in the same hours.

Ask which of the three you are really doing. Replacements are usually forced and urgent; upgrades are optional and should pay for themselves through higher sales or lower cost.

The hidden costs around the machine

The sticker price is not the whole cost. A new hood system may need ductwork, electrical changes and inspection. A walk-in cooler may need a new pad, refrigeration lines and a service contract. A POS system may need new hardware at every station, training and a monthly software fee. Add these to the quote before deciding on an amount, because a request sized only to the machine can leave the kitchen with equipment it cannot yet use.

Ask the vendor for a full installed price, not just the equipment price, and plan for downtime during installation, especially if the work requires closing for a day.

Matching the purchase to the timing

The big risk with restaurant equipment is timing. A failure is rarely scheduled, and a purchase in a slow month can strain a business that was fine a few weeks ago. Financing can stagger the cost, but it also adds a fixed obligation, so the question is whether the restaurant's cash flow can carry the payment in its slowest month.

For illustration only, with made-up figures: if a new hood and cooler package would cost $40,000 and the restaurant's slowest month still leaves room to cover the payment after rent, payroll and food, financing is workable. If the slowest month leaves no margin, the restaurant may need to scale the purchase down or fund it differently. These numbers are not our terms.

Working with Texas Biz Funding

We fund from $25,000 to $5,000,000. Some applicants are funded in as little as 24 hours. The application takes about five minutes and uses a soft credit pull, and sole proprietors can apply. Terms vary by offer; read the offer carefully and compare it with other options before accepting. A single small appliance is below our range, while a refrigeration package, hood system or full kitchen set fits it better.
